On July 20, 1969, The Eagle touched down on Tranquility Base. That momentous achievement, which today is considered one of the greatest know to humankind, fulfilled an objective set forth by President Kennedy in 1961. When Neil Armstrong spoke "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" he not only spoke for the hundreds of thousands whose tireless work made that moment possible, he spoke for billions worldwide. Relive the journey that captured the collective attention of people across the globe and won a race that began twelve years prior.
