Shadan Ardalan, NASA Engineer
MAP Members FREE, General Public $10
Shadan Ardalan is not your grandfather’s NASA engineer (especially if your grandfather had a crewcut, wore short-sleeved white shirts & skinny black ties, and worked in Mission Control during the 1960s). Shadan is part of the new breed of NASA engineer. As a son of immigrants, Shadan is a dreamer who wanted to be a part of our nation’s space program. But during his 30 year career, he realized that what he learned while flying spacecraft around Jupiter and Saturn could also be applied back on Earth. Part TED-talk, part one-man show, Shadan tells stories of his family, life, and career in a way that will hopefully entertain, amuse and inspire you….you and your grandkids.
As part of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory team, Shadan Ardalan has worked on space exploration missions including:
Juno (mission to Jupiter)
Mars Science Laboratory (Curiosity rover)
Stardust-NExT (extended mission to Comet Tempel 1)
Chandraayn (mission to Moon)
Cassini (mission to Saturn)
Deep Impact (mission to Comet Tempel 1)
Mars Odyssey & Mars Global Surveyor
Genesis (mission to collect solar wind particles at Earth-Sun L1)
Galileo Extended Mission
Galileo (mission to Jupiter)
