Established in 1827, Fort Leavenworth is the oldest active military post west of the Mississippi. It has served as a vital location during some of the country’s most significant conflicts including the Indian Removal Act, Kansas-Nebraska Act, Civil War, and both World Wars. Fort Leavenworth is considered one of the most haunted military posts in the army, with numerous supposedly haunted structures including the Rookery, the oldest building in Kansas.
