MAP Field trips are great for schools, recreational organizations, scouts, or summer camps. We also book adult groups for a facilitated tours of the museum, wetlands and featured exhibitions.

Kansas City Natural History
Kansas City Natural History invites us to go back three hundred million years ago to see the fascinating fossil remains when Kansas City’s home was on the paleoequator. Kansas City Natural History brings to life the oceans, rain forests, palm trees, giant ferns, mastodons, mammoths and grizzly-sized sloths that populated the area millions of summers ago. Includes the Missouri State Fossil.
Great Hall Scavenger Hunt
Just how big is a T-rex? When did an ocean once cover the state of Kansas? Who discovered the most well-known dinosaurs? What is a Mosasaur? Working in small groups, students will search for answers to questions in the exhibits in our Great Hall Scavenger Hunt. We offer two unique levels of the scavenger hunt in order to accommodate different ages of students.
Wetlands Trail
One of the most important features in our Prairiefire community, wetlands are low lying areas of land that are saturated with moisture, and a natural habitat for wildlife including herons, tortoises, butterflies, birds and more. Join us for a refreshing, educational walk.
Astrophotography
Looking out in space is like looking back in time. It sounds magical, but it’s actually very simple: Light needs time to travel across the vast distances of space to reach us. Photographs of space can capture our ancient past!
