SciFun Summer Camp: Astronomy 101

$275.00

Most of us love looking at the night sky on a clear night.  All those stars, planets, and the moon to look at.  It’s fun to identify the constellations in the night sky and how they change from season to season. The awesomeness of a solar eclipse can make us stop and wonder at the event.  In this camp, we will learn simple ways to find our way around the night sky using a star chart, how to locate and identify constellations, and the life cycle of stars. Campers will have the opportunity to view images from the Hubble and the James Webb space telescopes. Closer to home, we will explore the makeup of our solar system and how it came to be. Campers will build models of our solar system. Through various activities, campers will learn about the phases of the Moon cycle.  During the camp, we will do virtual tours of the Martian and Lunar surfaces and, in the process, learn about how these planets formed over time. Each version of this camp is designed specifically for either early or late elementary ages.
